Simple Winter Cold Pick-Me-Ups

08/02/2012 19:36:25 | Posted by Charlotte

It’s that time of year again – wherever you turn, someone is either coughing or sneezing and you’re left wondering when you’re going to start feeling a little under the weather.

I’m afraid I’ve been that person sitting on the bus sniffling into her tissue for the past week, but on the bright side, it has given me the opportunity to test-drive some Simple skincare and nutrition ideas for feeling that little bit better when you’ve got a cold!

Skincare

I have been doing three key things to make myself look and feel better over the past week.

Firstly, I’ve kept my Simple Kind To Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser on me at all times to use on my nose once I’ve blown it. It has really helped me to avoid that horrible, red, flaky-looking nose associated with the pesky cold.

My lips always become very dry when I have a cold; the Simple Kind To Lips Essential Lip Balm has been glued to my hand ready to apply at any given moment! Dry lips can be very sore, and that’s the last thing you need when you’re feeling poorly.

To give my dull skin a boost, I’ve been loving the Simple Radiance Brightening Moisturiser – if you’re having to feel ill, you can still have gorgeous glowing skin! The light-reflecting particles could help to trick anyone into thinking you’ve had your beauty sleep (when in reality you may have been kept up most of the night with a cough!)

Nutrition

Nutrition is important at all times, but when you’ve got a cold eating the right foods can make you feel much better. Not only that – it can also be good for your skin too! Simple Advisory Board Member and Nutritionist Fiona Hunter says:

“A study by Bristol University scientists revealed that eating fruit and veg like carrots, and oranges which are rich in carotenoids, help to give the skin a healthy glow. The vitamin C in oranges also helps manufacture collagen, essential for keeping the skin toned and supple.”

Why not make some hearty soup with chunky carrots or ask a kind friend or family member to make it for you? It will help to keep you feeling nourished as well as warm!

For more top recipes visit: http://www.simple.co.uk/Skintrition/Recipes/

I hope that you feel better soon if you’re suffering from a cold – it’s no fun! But hopefully our tips will make you feel that little bit more positive and set you on the road to recovery.

Charlotte x

I always have dry lips but when I have a cold they are even worse! They become cracked and sore. Your lip balm does the trick to make my lips kissable! Also I find moisurised lips make your lippy stay put longer.

My skin goes very dry in the winter and looks very horrible and makes me look older than my age, however using Simples light hydrating moisturiser has made all the difference to my skin, not only does it prevent it from drying but it gives my skin a glow, i love this product.

The radiance moisturiser is great for giving more life to your face! Im a bit of a vaseline addict as have very dry lips at this time of year, but I may now try the simple lip balm seeing as all the other products seem to suit my sensitive skin!

I've neen ill for ages with a cold and have found that lots of simple moisturiser and lip balm is helping as my skin and lips have been so dry. Those and lots and lots of fresh fruit, veg and juice seem to be helping :o) x

Simple Kind to lips essential lip balm has been my life saver over the past few weeks! My lips get dry and chapped very easily and this is always a nightmare during the winter but with this lipbalm, my lips stay hydrated with only a few applications during the day. I'm so glad I found this product!

I've been suffering from a horrible cold for the past two weeks and can't shake it off :-( Thankfully my Simple Regeneration moisturiser is saving my skin from drying up and cracking with too much nose blowing. It's the only brand that doesn't cause any break outs or irritations as my skin is so sensitive. I'll give the carrot soup a try as well. Thank you Simple.

I use the light moisturiser all the time, but have not tried the Radiance one before, might have to give it a go!
