What is an RSS feed?

What are Simple's Talk Topic RSS feeds?

These feeds allow you to see when we have added new blog posts to our website. You can keep up to date with the latest hot issues at Simple, get the latest health and beauty tips, be informed of new products and how you can help our product development.   Basically RSS feeds let you find out what the team at Simple are up to without the need to visit the site each week.

Feeds are in the protocol known as RSS or 'Really Simple Syndication'. Feeds themselves are just web pages, but designed to be read by computers rather than people.

How do I start using feeds?

First you will need a news reader programme - software which checks the feeds you have subscribed to and lets you read any new articles that have been added.

There is a range of different news readers available ours are powered by FeedBurner to make is easy to receive content updates in your previously set up account, for example if you have a Google mail account – click on Google box in the ‘Download reader page’ you will be asked if you want to add feed to your home page or to your generic Google reader.

There are other ways in which you can subscribe to the feed, including by dragging the URL of the feed (presented at top) into your news reader or by cutting and pasting the same URL.

Other readers similar to Google include My Yahoo!, My Aol, Newsgator, Bloglines, and other news readers.

Note that some browsers, including Firefox, Opera, Internet Explorer 7 and Safari, automatically check for feeds for you when you visit a website, and display an icon when they find one.
