Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have questions about Simple?

  • Simple is kind to skin and to animals too. We do not test our products on animals. We believe products that are safe for humans can be developed using non-animal approaches. As a Kind to Skin brand, born in Europe, we are very proud Europe has been ahead of its time for many years and banned animal testing completely since 2013.

Now that we have started expanding the brand geographically outside Europe, we are supporting a Global ban on animal testing everywhere we deploy our brand.

Our parent-company, Unilever, has announced it supports calls for a global ban on animal testing  similar to the existing EU ban.

  • Just like your skin, our planet has a delicate ecosystem that needs looking after, and we’re committed to being kinder to both. You’ll notice that we’ve done away with unnecessary leaflets, made many of our packs recyclable, and have started using recycled and biodegradable materials in our products and packaging. We’re not stopping there, though. There’s still a lot more to be done, and we’re determined to be as green as possible, so watch this space for more eco-friendly updates!

  • All of our skincare products are soap free.

  • Your skin's sebaceous glands produce sebum, a natural oil that helps to keep skin soft, supple and healthy. Emotional or external triggers - stress, stimulants, hormones, oil-stripping products and even the weather - can send your glands into overdrive. These glands are more concentrated on your forehead, nose and chin. A shiny T-zone with dry cheeks is not unusual.

Try our Simple Clear Skin range which contains Zinc PCA to help absorb excess oil.

  • If you have sensitive skin, there are some common ingredients used in skincare products which you should avoid. Check out the list of harsh ingredients here

  • It depends. Age, the environment, your lifestyle and diet, your hormonal activity as well as the clothes and jewellery you wear can all be triggers for sensitive skin occasions. All skin can be sensitive at times, due to external causes like pollution or cold weather, learn more about the triggers of sensitive skin here.

  • What’s your skin type? Ah, that elusive question. It can feel like a complex, and often confusing, quest – but solving it is the skincare Holy Grail. So, here’s the good news: it’s actually not that hard to figure out, once you know what to look for (and sort fact from fiction). Luckily, we can help you with that. Here’s a quick guide to identifying your skin type, so that you’re all set to give it some love.

  • Simple has always been about clean formulations and free-from ingredients that can cause skin reactions for people with sensitive skin. This list of 2000 chemicals is a compilation of fragrance components and colorants that have been flagged by regulatory agencies and government bodies because they can be sensitizing. These ingredients are often used in skin care products, but not in Simple.

  • As a brand, Simple works hard to keep our formulas “free from” ingredients that can cause reactions to sensitive skin. Majority of our products, on top of not having 2000 chemicals from artificial colors or fragrances, also don’t use animal ingredients, added parabens and phthalates, mineral oil, drying alcohol (among other things) and we’re actively working to keep our ingredient lists aligned to the lifestyle choices we know our consumers make.

As the skin care industry changes and new ingredients become available or regulated, we expect our list of ingredients to change to reflect this, so check back often to see what’s been removed or added.

  • While our Simple products have always been known to have clean formulations, we also do not compromise on efficacy. Whenever you choose a Simple product, you’ll always get the same great efficacy you can trust, without the chemicals that your skin doesn’t need. Simple products have many vitamins like B3, B5, C, E, to condition skin and natural moisturizers like Pentavitin and Hempseed Oil to ensure every Simple product delivers on its promise

  • All our Simple products are free from the 2000 chemicals listed on our website. Each individual product would also have a unique list of ingredients that it is “free from,” so it’s best to check each product pack for the other “NOs” for that product.

  • Not all chemicals are bad. Chemicals are all around us and many things that we use every day are technically “chemicals.” However, regulatory agencies and government bodies from all over the world regulate the use of some chemicals in skin care because they can be sensitizing. In Simple, we look at this list (and more) and we work hard to remove them in every single product we have.

  • Though sometimes related in skin care brands, natural and organic are different from “free from 2000 chemicals”. Simple contains some natural and organic ingredients and other good stuff as well to ensure efficacy and to live our purpose of “clean and kind skincare” for even the most sensitive skin.

  • Here is the list of 2000 chemicals we evaluated and intentionally leave out in our formulations.
