Our Top Tips: Skincare for Spring
How do you take care of your skin in spring?
Now the winter months are officially behind us and the weather’s getting lighter and brighter, it’s the time to give your regime an overhaul. That means everything from decluttering the products you no longer use through to switching to a lighter moisturiser.
We've got some top spring skincare tips, product recommendations and more to help you tweak your routine ready for the season ahead.
1. Start with a spring clean
Spring means out with the old and in with the new. So, it’s time to remove anything that’s been gathering dust.
Do you know what that jar symbol on your skincare products means? This is the period-after-opening symbol that tells you the number of months you can safely keep your product after opening it.
So, if there's anything that’s been sitting on your bathroom shelf for a while, then it could be time to replace it with something new that you enjoy using.
2. Go for lighter formulas
Now the cold weather is (hopefully) behind us, spring skincare means switching to lighter products. That means everything from more sheer coverage makeup through to moving away from rich moisturisers.
You can also wash your face with light cleansers like our Water Boost™ Micellar Cleansing Wash which gently refreshes and replenishes moisture while removing makeup and more.

3. Buff away winter skin
Flaky, dull skin can happen over the winter months, so now’s a good time to get into the habit of exfoliating regularly.
Using a gentle face scrub like our Daily Skin Detox™ Clear Pore Scrub 2-3 times a week can help you buff away dead skin cells, leaving skin feeling fresh and looking glowy.
Enriched with Witch Hazel and Bamboo, this is the perfect choice for oily skin in spring to help keep pores free of excess oil, bacteria and more that can lead to breakouts.
Or, you can combine skincare steps and care for your skin barrier all at once with our new Active Skin Barrier Care Smoothing Gel Cleanser which contains 5% Lactic Acid and Hyaluronic Acid for soft, spring-ready skin.

4. Start the season hydrated
Winter can leave your skin feeling depleted of moisture, which can lead to a compromised skin barrier – especially if you already have a dry skin type.
You might have been using a rich moisturiser during the cold weather to try to combat that.
As we head into the new season, we recommend opting for a slightly lighter, non-comedogenic face cream as one of our top skincare tips for spring.
Why? As temperatures ramp up, so too can our skin’s oil production. And yes, we tend to sweat more as it gets warmer which can also block pores. Using a more lightweight moisturiser will help to keep pores clear to avoid overloading spring skin with excess oil as the weather warms up.
We’re using our Soothing Water Cream right now, which contains 15% Skin Conditioners and Aloe. It’s powered by Ceramide Booster technology, which stimulates the skin to produce its own ceramides and restore your skin barrier.

5. Don’t skip SPF
SPF is something that should be a mainstay of your daily skincare routine throughout the year (yes, even when it’s cloudy).
That’s because the sun’s UV rays are always present, even if we can’t feel them at the time.
Sun damage can lead to everything from sunburn to signs of premature ageing like fine lines.
Enter our Protect ‘N’ Glow™ Triple Protect Moisturiser SPF 30 – AKA your anti-pollution BFF that helps shield against skin-damaging UVA & UVB rays, as well as pollution and blue (electronic) light.
Which makes it the perfect product for heading outside more in spring – especially if you live in a city.
6. Try something new
Spring’s a great time to switch things up, so if there’s a new product you’ve been wanting to try this is officially your sign to treat yourself.
If you have sensitive skin, you can introduce new Simple® skincare to your routine with confidence.
